Our goal is that no child should die of cancer,

and that all children should survive to a life without late effects

About the collaboration

“As a small private foundation with few employees, we rely on support from others, and this initiative by our ambassador, Pernille Teisbæk, is received with great gratitude. This collection will not only help raise necessary funds but also support the understanding of our cause. Our goal is that no child should die of cancer, and that all should survive to a life without late effects.” — Marianne Benzon, CEO for The Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation

Ambassador for the Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation, Pernille Teisbæk, and Wheat have created a limited-edition collection of children's clothing in support of the Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation. All profits go directly to the foundation and its strong focus on childhood cancer research - research which saves lives and sparks hope. Research which is of highest importance.

Entitled 'I Will Do Big Things', hope also plays a part in the collection. It consists of t-shirts, sweat styles, denim styles, a pajama, a beanie, and a cap — offering a total unisex look with an intended oversized fit. All styles are made from organic fabrics, with the t-shirts, sweat, pajama, beanie, and cap certified by Global Organic Textile Standard.

OUR HELP IS NEEDED

CANCER IS THE MOST FREQUENT MEDICAL CAUSE OF DEATH FOR CHILDREN ABOVE 1 YEAR OF AGE

About the foundation

The Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation is a private independent foundation working exclusively for children with cancer and their families. It concentrates on: Research, family support, and raising awareness

Childhood Cancer

Childhood cancer is the most frequent medical cause of death for children above 1 year of age. There are 12 different diagnoses, with app. 200 children diagnosed each year. Around 600 children receive treatment annually. The cause of most childhood cancers remains unknown. The survival rate is app. 85 %, with around 5000 survivors.

Research Achievements

The foundation is a frontrunner in childhood cancer research. Between 2016 and 2022, 35 min. euros was allocated to research. It is the single organization that has funded the most research projects within childhood cancer in Denmark. The foundation has established 6 professorships dedicated to childhood cancer research and allocated 2.4 mio. euros for strategic research in brain tumors and immunotherapy.

Family support

The foundation offers services to support children with cancer and their families, including psychological counseling, rehabilitation camps, and financial aid to help families cope with the challenges of childhood cancer. The Beads of Courage program helps children who undergo treatment with beads that each represent a milestone on their way to recovery. Ambassadors help raise funds and arrange activities for the upliftment of the families.

Q&A with Pernille Teisbæk

Pernille Teisbæk is a stylist and creative consultant known worldwide for her classic Scandinavian aesthetics. In 2023, she became an ambassador for the Danish ChildhoodCancer Foundation.

About the title 'I Will Do Big Things':

'I Will Do Big Things' is a statement that, for me, is primarily associated with something hopeful, and the message with this particular title is to spark hope amidst the challenge of going through illness.

About her role as ambassador:

If I can help make a difference for children affected by this relentless disease, I am very grateful. I lost my father to cancer when I was 7, and I don't wish for any family to go through the same. I think it is particularly important to focus on cancer research, as it is the greatest hope we can give those affected by the illness.

About designing children's clothing for the first time:

I am a mother of four and always thought it could be fun to design clothes that my own kids could wear. That it was possible, on top of that, to do a collaboration for a cause that is so close to my heart just made so much sense. Before my father passed away, he gave me a ring with a smiley. The smiley is now a part of the inspiration behind the design as a small - but for me, very important - detail.

The ideas behind the collection:

Comfort is key. Kids need to be able to move, play, and have fun. Hoodies and sweatpants are favourites among kids and easy to put on as well. Denim is durable and goes for so many occasions. I think it is important that clothes can be passed on, which is why the collection consists of unisex styles and timeless classics. For the same reason, I have focused on designs and colours that go well across seasons.
