We've made room for more children's names in our neck labels, so outerwear especially can go on as many adventures as possible. Here are a few tips on how to extend the life of your clothing.

Clothing and Outerwear

Taking good care of your child’s clothing helps it last longer – both for the sake of the environment and your own benefit. It’s important to follow the care instructions on the garment and only wash when truly necessary. Often, simply airing out the clothes outdoors is enough to freshen them up. Wool garments can be placed in a plastic bag and put in the freezer for 1–2 days to remove odors and bacteria. When washing wool, use a gentle wool cycle – or hand wash – and always lay the item flat to dry on a horizontal surface.

Whenever possible, clean waterproof outerwear using a cloth dampened with warm water. Machine washing can reduce the waterproof properties over time.

Many of our outerwear products come with iron-on patches, making it easy to repair small holes.

If the clothing gets damaged, we recommend sewing or patching it if possible.

Shoes and Boots

Our winter boots also need a little care to stay nice and functional for longer. We recommend using a waterproofing spray to help protect them from moisture and dirt – make sure to choose a spray that’s suitable for the specific material, whether leather or textile.

Boots should be waterproofed regularly, and it's important to clean them before doing so.

Avoid drying shoes, winter boots, or rubber boots on radiators or other heat sources, as this can damage the materials and the TEX membrane. Winter boots should not be machine washed – instead, use a cloth wrung out in warm water to clean them gently.

Rubber boots can be rinsed with water after use to remove dirt and salt. Use mild soap and a soft brush if needed. Let them air dry – avoid direct sunlight or heat, as it can damage the rubber. You can also use rubber conditioner or silicone spray to maintain flexibility.

Rubber boots should ideally be stored upright in a cool, dry place – away from sunlight and frost. You may fill them with newspaper to help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
